Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritize, and dispatch emergency/non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services
- Operate multi-channel radio systems, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), and 911 telephone equipment
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications, incidents, and officer activities
- Provide critical information to field units and coordinate multi-agency responses
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress emergency situations
- Utilize mapping systems and geographical knowledge to direct resources efficiently
- Comply with all federal, state, and departmental communication protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED required)
- Must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen
- Pass comprehensive background check, drug screening, and polygraph examination
- Ability to type minimum 40 WPM (will be tested)
- Clear speaking voice with excellent verbal communication skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn complex software systems
