Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, assess situations, and dispatch appropriate resources
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio communication equipment
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all communications and incidents
- Provide clear, concise information to officers, firefighters, and medical personnel
- Remain calm and professional during critical incidents and high-stress scenarios
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during emergencies and major events
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and departmental procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- US citizenship and valid North Carolina driver's license
- Ability to type 35+ WPM with accuracy
- Exceptional communication and active listening skills
- Ability to multitask and make sound decisions under pressure
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanor convictions
- Pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Must complete paid certification training program (approx. 12 weeks)
