Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, gathering critical information and dispatching appropriate resources
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio equipment to coordinate law enforcement response
- Maintain detailed records of all communications and activities in compliance with department policies
- Provide clear, concise instructions to callers during emergency situations to ensure safety
- Monitor multiple radio channels simultaneously while prioritizing incoming requests
- Collaborate with other agencies during multi-jurisdictional incidents
- Participate in continuous training to maintain proficiency in emergency protocols and technology
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Strong typing skills (minimum 40 WPM) and computer proficiency
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to multitask effectively in high-stress environments
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving dishonesty or violence
- Must be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S.
