Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls using CAD systems
- Dispatch police officers, fire, and medical units efficiently
- Provide critical instructions during emergency situations (CPR, first aid)
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incidents
- Coordinate with other agencies and external stakeholders
- Operate radio systems, telephones, and emergency alert tools
- Utilize NCIC database for warrant/background checks
- Remain calm under extreme pressure during critical incidents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with accuracy
- Valid NC driver's license (or ability to obtain)
- U.S. citizenship and clean criminal record
- Ability to pass background check and polygraph examination
- Strong multitasking and decision-making skills
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, CAD systems)
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
