Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service from the public.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to appropriate locations with clear and accurate information.
- Monitor and maintain radio communications and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Enter and update incident reports, field reports, and status information into the records management system.
- Maintain a high level of situational awareness and de-escalate tense situations via radio or phone.
- Collaborate with field officers, supervisors, and inter-agency personnel to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy (minimum 35-40 WPM).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly over the radio.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure in high-stress situations.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must successfully pass a background investigation, drug screen, and medical examination.
