Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services
- Operate multi-line telephone systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Remain calm and professional during critical incidents and provide clear instructions to callers
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel during emergencies
- Document all interactions accurately in call logs and incident reports
- Perform routine checks on communication equipment and systems
- Adhere to all federal regulations and department protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Strong communication skills with clear diction
- Ability to multitask in high-stress environments
- Basic computer proficiency and typing skills (30+ WPM preferred)
- Must be 18+ years old and a US citizen
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
- No felony convictions
