Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies for county departments
- Manage official social media channels and digital content platforms
- Write press releases, speeches, and official communications materials
- Coordinate media relations and press conferences
- Monitor public sentiment and adjust messaging accordingly
- Support crisis communications during emergency situations
- Analyze campaign performance metrics and optimize strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of professional communications experience
- Proven expertise with social media management tools (Hootsuite, Sprout Social)
- Strong writing/editing skills with portfolio samples
- Experience with government/public sector communications preferred
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects
- Proficiency in CMS platforms (WordPress, Drupal)
- Valid Illinois driver's license
