Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, childcare centers, and public facilities
- Investigate health complaints and potential disease outbreaks
- Enforce local and state health regulations with detailed documentation
- Educate business owners and public on health standards and best practices
- Collaborate with epidemiologists and emergency response teams
- Maintain accurate inspection records and generate compliance reports
- Testify as expert witness in regulatory hearings and court proceedings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in health inspection or regulatory enforcement
- Certification as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) preferred
- Valid Maryland driver's license with clean record
- Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code and Maryland Health Regulations
- Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States
