Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public swimming pools
- Investigate public health complaints and disease outbreaks
- Enforce local health codes and regulations with corrective action plans
- Collect environmental samples for laboratory testing
- Educate business owners and community members on health standards
- Maintain detailed inspection reports and regulatory documentation
- Collaborate with epidemiologists during health emergencies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Valid Tennessee Public Health Inspector certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Minimum 2 years experience in health inspections or regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code and TN health regulations
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work independently in field environments
- Valid Tennessee driver's license with clean record
