Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, childcare centers, and public facilities
- Investigate public health complaints and enforce regulatory standards
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate compliance records
- Educate business owners on health regulations and corrective actions
- Collaborate with epidemiologists during disease outbreak investigations
- Testify in regulatory hearings and legal proceedings as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or related field
- Texas Department of State Health Services Inspector certification
- Minimum 2 years experience in regulatory compliance or public health
- Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code and TDSHS regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends for inspections
