The City of Houston Health Department seeks a dedicated Public Health Specialist to lead community health initiatives and drive impactful public health programs. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive public health strategies targeting underserved communities
- Coordinate disease prevention and health education campaigns across Houston neighborhoods
- Analyze epidemiological data to identify emerging health trends and recommend interventions
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, community leaders, and government agencies
- Manage grant-funded projects and ensure compliance with federal/state regulations
- Conduct community needs assessments and program evaluations
- Represent the department at public health forums and stakeholder meetings
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in public health program implementation
- Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in SPSS or SAS
- Experience with community outreach and stakeholder engagement
- Certified in Public Health (CPH) preferred
- Knowledge of Texas public health regulations and CDC guidelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual in English/Spanish highly desirable
