The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is seeking a dedicated Public Health Specialist to lead disease prevention initiatives and coordinate emergency response efforts in Sedgwick County. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement evidence-based public health programs targeting at-risk populations
- Conduct epidemiological surveillance and outbreak investigations
- Coordinate interagency emergency preparedness responses
- Analyze health data trends to inform policy recommendations
- Train healthcare providers and community health workers
- Manage grant-funded health initiatives and reporting requirements
- Collaborate with local government and non-profit organizations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 3+ years of public health program implementation experience
- Certified in Public Health (CPH) or willingness to obtain within 6 months
- Advanced proficiency in health data analysis tools (SPSS, SAS, R)
- Experience with emergency preparedness protocols (NIMS/ICS)
- Valid Kansas driver's license with clean record
- Strong written/verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
