We're seeking a dedicated Public Health Specialist to develop evidence-based programs addressing emerging health challenges in our diverse metropolitan area. This pivotal role collaborates with federal, state, and local partners to implement Mesa's health equity initiatives while ensuring compliance with CDC and Arizona Department of Health Services protocols.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead community health initiatives targeting chronic disease prevention and maternal/child health
- Analyze epidemiological data to identify health disparities and inform policy recommendations
- Coordinate cross-agency coalitions for emergency preparedness and response planning
- Conduct public health education campaigns through digital and in-person outreach channels
- Manage grant-funded programs and prepare compliance reports for federal/state agencies
- Evaluate program effectiveness using KPIs and adjust strategies based on community feedback
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) or Epidemiology required
- 3+ years of experience in local government public health programs
- Valid Arizona Public Health Practitioner certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Advanced proficiency in data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and statistical software
- Demonstrated success in securing federal/state health grants
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA, FERPA, and ADA compliance requirements
