Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies for city departments and initiatives
- Serve as primary media liaison, drafting press releases and coordinating press conferences
- Manage official city social media channels and digital content platforms
- Oversee crisis communications protocols and provide 24/7 on-call support during emergencies
- Produce compelling content for city publications, websites, and public announcements
- Collaborate with department heads to align messaging with city priorities
- Analyze public sentiment and adjust communication strategies accordingly
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in government or public sector communications
- Proven expertise in crisis communications and media management
- Advanced proficiency in CMS platforms, social media analytics, and digital content tools
- Strong writing skills with samples of published work required
- Ohio driver's license and ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends
- Portfolio demonstrating successful multi-channel campaigns
