Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies for city initiatives and public services
- Manage media relations including press conferences, interviews, and crisis communications
- Oversee content creation for city websites, social media platforms, and digital newsletters
- Coordinate with city departments to ensure consistent messaging across all channels
- Analyze public sentiment and provide actionable insights to leadership
- Produce multimedia content including videos, infographics, and press releases
- Manage public records requests and ensure compliance with open meeting laws
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in government communications or public sector PR
- Expertise in social media management and digital analytics tools
- Exceptional writing/editing skills with portfolio of published work
- Proven crisis communication experience in public sector context
- Valid Arizona Driver's License (for occasional travel to city sites)
- Knowledge of Arizona Public Records Laws and open meeting requirements
