Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies for city departments
- Manage media relations, press conferences, and journalist inquiries
- Write/edit press releases, speeches, and digital content
- Oversee official social media channels and website communications
- Coordinate crisis communications and emergency public messaging
- Analyze public sentiment and adjust communication approaches
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic messaging initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of professional communications experience
- Proven crisis communications and media management expertise
- Advanced writing and editing skills for diverse audiences
- Experience with government/public sector communications preferred
- Proficiency in CMS platforms and analytics tools
- Valid California driver's license
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) certification strongly preferred
