Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic communication plans for city departments and major initiatives
- Serve as primary media liaison, crafting press releases and managing press conferences
- Lead crisis communication protocols during emergencies and public events
- Oversee digital content creation across city websites and social media channels
- Produce compelling multimedia materials including videos, infographics, and newsletters
- Analyze communication metrics and optimize strategies based on community feedback
- Collaborate with elected officials and department heads on messaging consistency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in government or public sector communications
- Proven expertise in crisis communication and media relations
- Advanced proficiency with CMS platforms, SEO principles, and social media analytics
- Exceptional writing/editing skills with portfolio of published work
- Valid California Driver's License with clean driving record
