Responsibilities
- Analyze complex policy issues and recommend evidence-based solutions to City Council
- Conduct research on emerging trends in urban governance, technology policy, and social equity
- Develop policy briefs and implementation plans for departmental initiatives
- Coordinate with community stakeholders and advocacy groups to gather diverse perspectives
- Monitor federal/state legislative impacts on local government operations
- Lead cross-functional task forces for major policy development projects
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for public hearings
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Political Science, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in government policy analysis or public sector roles
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools (SQL, R, or Python preferred)
- Deep understanding of California municipal governance structures
- Strong written communication skills demonstrated through policy writing samples
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- Experience with community engagement methodologies and stakeholder management
