Responsibilities
- Inspect residential/commercial construction sites for compliance with city codes and safety standards
- Review engineering plans and permit applications for accuracy and feasibility
- Document findings through detailed reports and digital field systems
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments to resolve compliance issues
- Issue correction notices and stop-work orders when necessary
- Testify in code enforcement hearings and administrative proceedings
- Maintain accurate inspection records using GIS and municipal software systems
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 3+ years construction inspection experience
- ICC Certification in Building Inspection or related field (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Valid Arizona driver's license with clean driving record
- Proficiency in construction documentation software (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam)
- Strong knowledge of International Building Codes and Mesa municipal regulations
- Excellent communication skills for public interaction and report writing
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and physical environments
