Responsibilities
- Conduct daily inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate project documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city officials to resolve compliance issues
- Verify materials and workmanship meet federal and California state standards
- Investigate citizen complaints related to public works projects
- Assist in preparing project estimates and change orders
- Train junior inspectors on regulatory requirements and inspection protocols
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in public works construction inspection
- Valid California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Inspector Certification
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training certification
- Proficiency in CAD software and inspection reporting tools
- Strong knowledge of California Public Contract Code and Title 24 regulations
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends for project needs
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred
