Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects to verify compliance with approved plans and specifications
- Review engineering drawings and construction documents for accuracy and adherence to codes
- Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports with recommendations
- Investigate citizen complaints related to public works infrastructure
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments to resolve issues
- Ensure all work complies with federal, state, and local regulations
- Participate in emergency response infrastructure assessments as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of construction inspection experience
- Valid California Inspector Certification (QACI or ICC preferred)
- Strong knowledge of California Building Code, Title 24, and ADA standards
- Experience with construction materials testing and quality control procedures
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
- Proficient in field inspection software (e.g., Cityworks, GIS)
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and lift up to 50 lbs
