Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of public works projects including roads, bridges, and drainage systems
- Verify compliance with engineering plans, specifications, and safety protocols
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate project documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments to resolve compliance issues
- Enforce federal, state, and local regulations including FDOT and OSHA standards
- Manage project schedules and recommend corrective actions for non-conformance
- Assist in training junior inspectors and maintaining quality control systems
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in construction technology preferred
- 3+ years of construction inspection or civil engineering experience
- Valid Florida Driver's License and ability to travel to project sites
- OSHA 30-hour construction certification required
- Strong knowledge of FDOT and local Tampa construction codes
- Proficiency in inspection software and MS Office Suite
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage stakeholder relationships
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
