The City of Cleveland is seeking a highly motivated Public Works Inspector to join our Infrastructure Department immediately. Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of public works projects (roads, bridges, utilities) to verify compliance with blueprints and regulations
- Document inspection findings using digital tools and prepare detailed compliance reports
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city officials to resolve technical issues
- Enforce safety protocols and environmental compliance on construction sites
- Review permit applications and provide technical guidance to stakeholders
- Maintain accurate project documentation and digital records
- Participate in emergency response inspections during critical infrastructure incidents
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection or public works experience
- Valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License (Class B)
- Certification as a Public Works Inspector (e.g., APWA or equivalent)
- Proficiency in inspection software (e.g., CityWorks, Accela)
- Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and municipal codes
- Ability to interpret engineering blueprints and technical specifications
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- U.S. citizenship and ability to pass federal background check
