Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on city roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., backhoes, dump trucks) for construction projects
- Maintain parks, green spaces, and recreational facilities
- Respond to emergency weather-related public works needs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and city protocols
- Assist in waste collection and recycling operations
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on municipal projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical labor in all weather conditions
- Experience with landscaping, construction, or equipment operation preferred
- OSHA 10-hour certification or willingness to obtain
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools
- Background check and drug screening required
