Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., backhoes, dump trucks, graders)
- Assist in emergency response during severe weather events
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on capital improvement projects
- Ensure strict adherence to OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Document work activities and maintain equipment logs
- Participate in public-facing community improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Texas Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public works or construction
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills
- Pass pre-employment background check and physical examination
- Texas Class IV Water Operator certification a plus
