Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including excavation, grading, and material handling for public infrastructure projects
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery (backhoes, dump trucks, rollers) with strict adherence to safety protocols
- Assist in road repair, sidewalk installation, and storm drain maintenance across LA County
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs to supervisors
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met
- Participate in emergency response operations during severe weather events
- Maintain accurate work logs and project documentation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years of construction/public works experience
- Valid California Class C driver's license with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of traffic control and work zone safety standards
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
