Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery including dump trucks, street sweepers, and mowing equipment
- Perform manual labor for infrastructure maintenance including road repairs, storm drain clearing, and vegetation management
- Conduct daily inspections of public facilities and report maintenance needs
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and OSHA standards during all operations
- Assist with emergency response during severe weather events
- Maintain accurate work records and equipment maintenance logs
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for coordinated project execution
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public works, construction, or related field
- OSHA 10-hour certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment troubleshooting
- Strong commitment to public service and community values
- Clean driving record and background check required
