Job Description
We are seeking dedicated individuals to join the City of Anaheim Public Works team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining and improving the infrastructure that our community relies on every day.
As a Public Works Laborer, you will be exposed to various facets of municipal operations, ensuring our streets, sidewalks, and public facilities remain safe and accessible. You will work alongside skilled tradespeople and operate heavy machinery under supervision.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including digging, lifting, hauling materials, and loading/unloading trucks.
- Maintain and repair streets, sidewalks, curbs, and storm drains to ensure safety and compliance.
- Assist with snow removal and ice control during winter months.
- Operate light equipment such as dump trucks, jackhammers, tampers, and pavement breakers.
- Set up and maintain traffic control devices, barricades, and signage for road work zones.
- Inspect public facilities for safety hazards and report maintenance needs to supervisors.
- Follow all safety protocols and OSHA regulations while working on active job sites.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Basic knowledge of construction and road maintenance practices.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and following established protocols.
