Responsibilities
- Perform general labor duties including paving, snow removal, and street maintenance.
- Operate and maintain heavy and light equipment such as dump trucks, rollers, and jackhammers.
- Assist in the collection and disposal of solid waste and recyclables.
- Perform routine inspections of city infrastructure and report necessary repairs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as storm response and debris removal, as directed by supervisors.
- Collaborate with other city departments and external contractors as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Physically capable of performing heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and working in various weather conditions.
- Experience with construction or public works maintenance is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Must pass a post-offer drug screen and background check.
