Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of city streets, sidewalks, and public infrastructure.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment, including dump trucks, paving machines, and street sweepers.
- Collect and dispose of litter, debris, and waste from public rights-of-way and parks.
- Assist in pothole repair, asphalt patching, and traffic sign maintenance.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and weather-related infrastructure issues (e.g., flooding, storm damage).
- Ensure all work is performed in strict accordance with OSHA safety standards and city regulations.
- Collaborate with other municipal departments to coordinate large-scale public projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Class C Louisiana Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience in public works, construction, landscaping, or related fields is preferred but not required.
- Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
