Responsibilities
- Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely operate backhoes, rollers, dump trucks, and other municipal vehicles as trained.
- Road Maintenance: Assist in patching potholes, resurfacing roads, and maintaining sidewalks to ensure safe passage for residents.
- Drainage & Utilities: Clear debris from drains, assist in pipe laying, and perform general excavation for utility projects.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to OSHA safety regulations and maintain a clean and hazard-free work zone.
- Public Assistance: Respond to citizen inquiries regarding public works issues and provide high-quality customer service.
- Weather Response: Work efficiently during adverse weather conditions, including heavy rain and heat waves, to protect city infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- License: Valid Class C Florida Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or public works is highly preferred but not always required for entry-level candidates.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods. Must pass a pre-employment physical.
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of hand tools and willingness to learn heavy equipment operation.
- Background: Must pass a background check and drug screening.
