Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor for road construction, sidewalk repair, and drainage system maintenance
- Operate light machinery including jackhammers, saws, and asphalt spreaders under supervision
- Assist in traffic control setup and site safety compliance during public works projects
- Load/unload construction materials and maintain organized job site cleanliness
- Participate in seasonal beautification projects including park maintenance and tree planting
- Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs promptly
- Adhere to all OSHA safety protocols and city regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Ohio driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred (training available)
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment operation and maintenance
- Reliable transportation to various Columbus work sites
- Pass background check and drug screening
- Previous construction or public works experience preferred
