Responsibilities
- Operate heavy construction equipment, such as excavators, rollers, and skid steers, under supervision.
- Perform general labor duties including excavation, backfilling, and dirt work.
- Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of public infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Clear snow and ice from roads, parking lots, and walkways during winter operations.
- Set up and monitor traffic control devices (cones, signs, flaggers) to ensure worker and public safety.
- Perform routine site cleanup, including debris removal and waste disposal.
- Collaborate with crew leads and engineers to ensure project specifications are met.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus but not always required.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly and work in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or municipal public works is preferred.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to OSHA regulations.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
