As a Public Works Laborer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our community's infrastructure. You will work under the guidance of experienced foremen and supervisors, learning valuable trade skills that can lead to long-term career advancement.
Responsibilities
- Assist with Public Infrastructure Projects: Support road maintenance, sidewalk repairs, and utility line installation.
- Site Preparation: Clear debris, grade soil, and prepare construction sites for crews.
- Operate Light Machinery: Safely operate jackhammers, rollers, and skid steers after completing our paid training program.
- Traffic Control: Set up and monitor cones, signs, and barricades to ensure the safety of workers and the public.
- Excavation and Backfill: Dig trenches, remove asphalt, and backfill areas as directed by supervisors.
- Equipment Maintenance: Keep tools and machinery clean and in working order.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with a diverse team to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 50+ lbs frequently and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Driver’s License: Valid Class C California Driver’s License required.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred; trade school background is a plus.
- Reliability: Must be punctual, have a clean driving record, and pass a background check.
- Willingness to Learn: Strong desire to learn new skills through our paid training program.
- Communication: Basic ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
