Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy equipment safely (backhoes, dump trucks, asphalt pavers)
- Respond to emergency service calls during inclement weather
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and preventive maintenance
- Coordinate with other city departments on joint projects
- Maintain accurate work logs and incident reports
- Adhere to all OSHA and Cal/OSHA safety regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid California Class B driver's license (Class A preferred)
- 2+ years of public works or construction maintenance experience
- Certification in equipment operation (e.g., CDL, flagging)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of CAD/GIS systems
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
