Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on municipal facilities, roads, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery including backhoes, dump trucks, and street sweepers
- Respond to emergency service calls during inclement weather
- Conduct infrastructure inspections and prepare detailed maintenance reports
- Collaborate with engineering teams on public improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and municipal regulations
- Maintain accurate equipment usage logs and inventory records
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Indiana Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or heavy equipment operation
- Certification in water treatment, wastewater management, or infrastructure maintenance preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights/weekends during emergencies
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Basic proficiency with GIS mapping systems
