Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during winter months.
- Maintain public parks, right-of-ways, and drainage systems.
- Operate heavy machinery, such as dump trucks, backhoes, and mowers, in accordance with safety regulations.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and citizen inquiries promptly.
- Ensure all work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Inspect work sites for potential hazards and report any issues to supervisors.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in mechanics or construction is a plus.
- Valid Kansas Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance, construction, or related field.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Pass a background check and drug screen.
