Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on municipal infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment, such as dump trucks, backhoes, and pavement breakers, safely and efficiently.
- Inspect work sites and equipment for potential hazards and ensure strict compliance with all OSHA and city safety regulations.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and service calls during peak times or inclement weather conditions.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time logs.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, contractors, and other city personnel to complete large-scale municipal projects.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of work vehicles and storage yards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driverβs License (CDL) is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance, construction, or public works is highly desirable.
- Ability to lift, push, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Strong commitment to public service and community integrity.
- Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and a background check.
