Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of public streets, sidewalks, and roadways, including pothole filling and patching.
- Operate and maintain heavy municipal equipment such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, and pavement breakers.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during winter storms to ensure public safety.
- Maintain and clean public parks, green spaces, and public buildings to preserve a welcoming environment.
- Monitor and report on the condition of city infrastructure, including street signs and traffic signals.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of municipal employees to complete assigned projects efficiently.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to prevent workplace accidents.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Massachusetts Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to operate power tools and heavy machinery safely and effectively.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening as required by municipal policy.
