Responsibilities
- Maintenance Operations: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on streets, sidewalks, storm drains, and park facilities to ensure public safety and accessibility.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy municipal equipment including backhoes, graders, sweepers, and dump trucks.
- Emergency Response: Respond to weather-related emergencies, including snow and ice removal, flood control, and debris cleanup during severe weather events.
- Utility Maintenance: Assist in the repair and maintenance of water mains, sewer lines, and other underground utility infrastructure.
- Inspection & Reporting: Conduct visual inspections of public infrastructure and complete accurate daily logs and reports.
- Public Interaction: Interact professionally with the public and other city departments to address concerns and coordinate projects.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in public works, construction, landscaping, or general maintenance is preferred but not required; on-the-job training provided.
- Licensure: A valid Nebraska Commercial Driverβs License (CDL) is a significant plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to read blueprints or simple schematics.
- Background: Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
