Responsibilities
- Maintain and Repair Infrastructure: Perform routine maintenance on streets, sidewalks, curbs, and storm drains to ensure public safety and accessibility.
- Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely operate and maintain trucks, jackhammers, paving equipment, and other municipal machinery.
- Sanitation and Landscaping: Assist in litter removal, graffiti abatement, and park maintenance to preserve the city’s aesthetic appeal.
- Public Safety Support: Respond to emergency maintenance requests and assist in traffic control during city events or road closures.
- Material Management: Inventory and store construction materials and tools, ensuring a ready supply for daily operations.
- Record Keeping: Accurately complete daily logs, work orders, and inspection reports regarding maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; vocational training in construction or maintenance is a plus.
- Licensure: Valid California Class C Driver’s License required with a clean driving record.
- Experience: Prior experience in public works, construction, landscaping, or general labor is preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Clearance: Must pass a background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.
