Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of municipal infrastructure including roads, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Operate specialized equipment (e.g., dump trucks, graders, jackhammers) safely and efficiently
- Document work activities using digital reporting systems and maintain accurate project logs
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement infrastructure improvement plans
- Respond to emergency weather events (e.g., flooding, ice storms) for critical infrastructure repairs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, city policies, and environmental standards
- Train junior staff on equipment operation and safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in civil engineering technology preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public works, construction, or related field
- Valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with clean driving record
- Certification in OSHA 10-hour construction safety or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Proficient with digital tools (GIS, asset management software, mobile reporting apps)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
