Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of city infrastructure including roads, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as graders, excavators, and traffic control devices
- Document field activities using digital reporting systems and maintain accurate work records
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement infrastructure improvement projects
- Respond to emergency service calls during inclement weather or public safety incidents
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and city protocols
- Train junior staff on equipment operation and safety procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in municipal public works or construction maintenance
- Valid New Mexico Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Proficiency with GIS mapping software and digital reporting tools
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and emergency call-outs
- Pass background check and drug screening per government hiring standards
- U.S. citizenship required for federal contract compliance
