Responsibilities
- Operate Sanitation Vehicles: Safely and efficiently operate heavy-duty trucks, packers, and collection carts to collect residential and commercial refuse and recyclable materials.
- Route Management: Follow designated collection routes and schedules to ensure timely service delivery across the city.
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections, minor vehicle maintenance, and cleaning of equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Community Interaction: Interact professionally with residents and business owners while adhering to all safety protocols and traffic laws.
- Emergency Response: Assist in snow and ice removal, storm cleanup, and emergency debris removal as directed by supervisors.
- Waste Sorting: Assist in the sorting and processing of recyclable materials at transfer stations.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday; ability to work in various weather conditions including extreme heat, rain, and cold.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Background Check: Successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and drug screening.
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
- Experience: Previous experience in sanitation, landscaping, or general labor is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided.
