Responsibilities
- Operate sanitation trucks and heavy machinery to collect residential/commercial waste
- Perform street cleaning operations using mechanical brooms and hand tools
- Manage recycling programs and educate residents on proper waste sorting
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Adhere to strict safety protocols during all collection and disposal activities
- Respond to emergency clean-up operations during severe weather events
- Maintain accurate route documentation and service records
Qualifications
- Valid New York State Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 1 year experience operating heavy machinery or commercial vehicles
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and perform physically demanding tasks
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Pass pre-employment physical examination and drug screening
- Basic knowledge of NYC waste management regulations
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and environmental stewardship
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
