Responsibilities
- Collect and dispose of residential, commercial, and industrial refuse, recycling, and bulk items.
- Operate heavy sanitation vehicles, including rear loaders and front loaders.
- Maintain cleanliness of streets, sidewalks, and public right-of-way.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of sanitation equipment.
- Report street hazards, illegal dumping, or maintenance issues to supervisors.
- Adhere to all Department of Sanitation safety regulations and protocols.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Valid New York State Driver's License (Class B or higher preferred).
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting heavy loads and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must pass a medical examination and a criminal background check.
