Responsibilities
- Maintain Public Infrastructure: Inspect and repair roads, sidewalks, and public facilities to ensure safety and accessibility.
- Operate Municipal Equipment: Safely drive and operate heavy machinery, trucks, and utility vehicles.
- Waste Management Support: Assist in the collection and processing of municipal waste and recycling in compliance with city regulations.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to weather-related emergencies and city-wide service interruptions.
- Community Engagement: Interact with residents to answer inquiries and resolve service-related issues professionally.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, repairs, and incident reports.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- License: Valid New York State Driverβs License (Class B preferred).
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions; must pass a physical examination.
- Background Check: Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Experience: Prior experience in public works, construction, or sanitation is a plus but not mandatory for entry-level positions.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work as part of a diverse team.
