Responsibilities
- Manage complex administrative functions for departmental leadership including scheduling, records management, and budget tracking
- Coordinate cross-departmental initiatives and serve as primary liaison for intergovernmental communications
- Develop and implement efficient office procedures using Microsoft Office Suite and specialized government software
- Prepare official correspondence, reports, and presentations for public meetings and council sessions
- Oversee procurement processes, vendor contracts, and compliance with municipal regulations
- Train and mentor junior administrative staff on departmental protocols and best practices
- Monitor legislative updates affecting city operations and recommend policy adjustments
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field (5+ years experience accepted in lieu of degree)
- Minimum 3 years of administrative experience in government or public sector
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and government databases
- Strong knowledge of municipal regulations, procurement processes, and record management standards
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated public speaking ability
- Proven project management experience with ability to handle multiple competing priorities
- Valid New Mexico driver's license and ability to travel between city facilities
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
