Responsibilities
- Oversee all municipal elections, including ballot preparation, polling place coordination, and results certification
- Manage City Council meetings, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and ordinance codification
- Administer public records requests in compliance with California Public Records Act
- Lead records management system modernization and digital preservation initiatives
- Serve as custodian of official city documents, contracts, and historical archives
- Coordinate with county/state election officials and provide public voter education
- Supervise City Clerk staff and develop departmental training programs
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years municipal government experience with 2+ in supervisory roles
- Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation from International Institute of Municipal Clerks
- Expertise in California election law and public records compliance
- Advanced proficiency in records management systems (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Exceptional written communication skills with demonstrated minute-taking abilities
- Proven experience managing election cycles with 50,000+ voters
