Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive waste reduction strategies for commercial and residential sectors
- Oversee compliance monitoring for county environmental regulations and reporting requirements
- Design data-driven outreach campaigns to increase recycling participation rates
- Lead cross-functional teams on sustainability projects including green infrastructure initiatives
- Analyze environmental impact data and prepare actionable reports for county leadership
- Manage relationships with local businesses and community organizations on sustainability partnerships
- Stay current on emerging environmental technologies and regulatory changes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in environmental program management or municipal sustainability
- Proven track record of developing successful waste reduction or recycling programs
- Strong data analysis skills with experience in environmental metrics reporting
- Excellent public speaking and community engagement capabilities
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean driving record
- Experience with EPA, NCDENR, and local environmental regulations
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and environmental data visualization tools
